YSoft SafeQ 6 Administrator Guide: Deployment, Configuration, and Management

2.2 Active Directory / LDAP Integration

SafeQ 6 uses external directories for user authentication and synchronization.

  1. System > User Accounts > Directory Services → Add new directory.
  2. Select Active Directory.
  3. Enter:
    • Server: ldap://yourdc.domain.local:389 (or ldaps:// for SSL)
    • Base DN: OU=Employees,DC=domain,DC=local
    • Bind DN: CN=svc_safeq,OU=Service Accounts,DC=domain,DC=local + password
  4. Test connection and set sync schedule (e.g., every 30 minutes).
  5. Enable Automatically create user accounts in SafeQ.
  6. Map attributes: sAMAccountName → Username, mail → Email.

5.1 Adding Printers (Two Methods)

Method A – Automatic Discovery Printers → Discovery → Scan IP range (SNMP required).
SafeQ detects make/model, capabilities (duplex, color, stapling).

Method B – Manual Addition Printers → Add Printer → IP address, driver selection (SafeQ Generic or manufacturer PCL/PS). ysoft safeq 6 admin guide

8.2 Single Sign-On (SAML)

Integrate with Azure AD / Okta:

  1. System > Authentication > SAML → Enable.
  2. Enter IdP metadata URL (e.g., https://login.microsoftonline.com/.../saml2).
  3. Map SAML attributes: nameID → Username, email → Email.
  4. Set Auto-provision users from SAML.

7.4 Administrator Roles

Do not use a single admin account. Create role‑based admins: System > User Accounts > Directory Services →

  • System Admin – full rights.
  • Printer Admin – add/remove printers, drivers, terminals.
  • Report Admin – view reports only.
  • User Admin – manage users, groups, quotas.

Assign via Users → Roles.

13. Upgrades & patches

  • Review release notes and compatibility matrix before upgrading.
  • Apply upgrades in test environment first.
  • Backup DB and configuration prior to upgrade.
  • Follow ordered upgrade steps for clustered or multi-component deployments.

7. Security and Compliance Configuration

Step 2 – First Login

Open https://<server-ip>:8443/admin
Default credentials: Server: ldap://yourdc

  • Username: admin
  • Password: (found in installation.log or set during install)

Immediately change the password.
