Part 4: Installing MediaTek VCOM Drivers

Without proper drivers, your PC will not detect the Winstar W30. Follow these steps:

  1. Download MTK USB Driver (available from SP Flash Tool official site or driver packs).
  2. Disable Driver Signature Verification (Windows 8/10/11):
    • Restart PC → Press Shift + Restart → Troubleshoot → Advanced Options → Startup Settings → Restart → Press 7 (Disable driver signature enforcement).
  3. Install the driver: Run install_driver.exe as Administrator.
  4. Connect your phone (powered off) to PC. You should see MediaTek PreLoader USB VCOM Port in Device Manager (might appear for only 5 seconds – that’s normal).
