Pc3000 Install «Instant Download»
The PC-3000 by ACE Lab is the industry standard for professional data recovery from damaged storage devices. Proper installation is critical to ensure the hardware and software communicate correctly without corruption or security lockout. 🛠️ Hardware Installation
Before installing any software, the physical controller must be seated correctly.
PCI/PCIe Card: For PC-3000 Express or UDMA versions, install the board into an available PCIe or PCI slot on a desktop computer.
Portable III: This unit connects via USB but requires a specific power supply to operate. Ensure the USB port on your PC is high-speed (USB 3.0/3.1) to maintain data transfer rates up to 520MB/s.
Power Connectors: Connect the PC’s power supply (SATA/Molex) to the PC-3000 board to power the "patient" drives externally. 💻 Software Installation
The software is tightly bound to the hardware via a serial number and activation key. pc3000 install
Download Utilities: Access the latest installation package from the official ACE Lab Customer Portal. Driver Setup : Install the specialized drivers for the PC-3000 controller
first. Windows may flag these as "unassigned" due to their low-level nature.
Run Installer: Execute the Setup.exe. You will need to enter your P/N (Product Number) and the Activation Password provided with your purchase.
Security Activation: After installation, the software will generate a unique request code. You must email this to ACE Lab or use the online portal to receive an activation key that binds the software to that specific PC and card. ⚙️ Post-Installation Configuration
Once installed, the utility needs to be configured for your specific workspace. The PC-3000 by ACE Lab is the industry
COM Port Settings: For drives requiring terminal access (like Seagate Rosewood), go to Tools -> Settings -> Com port to ensure the terminal adapter is correctly mapped. Data Extractor (DE) Setup : Define your "target" drive.
often marks target drives as Offline in Windows to prevent the OS from writing metadata to them during the recovery process.
MFT Scanning: For NTFS partitions, adjust timeout settings in the DE parameters to ensure the Master File Table (MFT) can be scanned accurately on dying drives.
💡 Tip: Always perform a "soft reset" first when imaging a drive. Hardware resets can sometimes cause power cycles that further damage a weak drive's heads. Which version of the (Express, UDMA, or Portable III ) are you setting up today? AI responses may include mistakes. Learn more
4. Common Pitfalls
| Issue | Fix |
|-------|-----|
| "Hardware key not found" | Reinstall USB dongle driver manually from C:\Program Files\ACE Lab\Drivers |
| PC freezes when scanning a drive | Motherboard’s SATA controller interfering – connect drive only via PC-3000 card |
| Can't read SA (service area) on old drives | You likely skipped the COM port connection (needed for pre-2005 HDDs) | OS: Windows 10 LTSC or Windows 11 Pro
Operating System & BIOS Settings
- OS: Windows 10 LTSC or Windows 11 Pro (Home editions are not officially supported).
- UEFI/BIOS:
- Disable Secure Boot.
- Enable Legacy / CSM mode (if using older PCIe UDMA cards).
- Disable Fast Boot (prevents the PC-3000 driver from initializing correctly).
- Power Management: Set the USB Selective Suspend setting to Disabled.
6.2 Drive Port Mapping
- Go to Utilities → Ports Configuration.
- For each SATA port on the PC-3000 card, assign:
- Port number (0-3)
- Channel type (Master/Slave for IDE, Port for SATA)
- Power control mapping (which relay controls which port)
- Click Test → Verify each port can power on/off a dummy HDD.
Feature: Installing PC-3000 – More Than Just Software
For data recovery professionals, PC-3000 is the industry gold standard. However, installing it is not a simple "next-next-finish" process. It is a tightly integrated hardware-software ecosystem that requires specific preparation.
Connecting the Terminal Adapter (for HDDs)
- Plug the serial terminal adapter (often an FTDI chip) into a USB 2.0 port. USB 3.0 drivers can cause latency issues with ATA terminal commands (e.g., Seagate F3 TTL).
7. Verification Test
Perform a basic functional test:
- Connect a known good test HDD (non-critical data) to port 0.
- Launch PC-3000 for HDD.
- Select the drive → Click ID – should show model/firmware/serial.
- Run Surface Test (read only) for 5 minutes – no errors.
- Launch Data Extractor → Create a small disk image (1 GB) → Verify checksum.
✅ If all steps pass, the installation is successful.
4. Driver Installation (Critical Step)
ACE Lab drivers are digitally signed but may be blocked by Windows Driver Signature Enforcement.
