MCGS-SLAM

A Multi-Camera SLAM Framework Using Gaussian Splatting for High-Fidelity Mapping

Anonymous Author

SLAM System Pipeline

Our method performs real-time SLAM by fusing synchronized inputs from a multi-camera rig into a unified 3D Gaussian map. It first selects keyframes and estimates depth and normal maps for each camera, then jointly optimizes poses and depths via multi-camera bundle adjustment and scale-consistent depth alignment. Refined keyframes are fused into a dense Gaussian map using differentiable rasterization, interleaved with densification and pruning. An optional offline stage further refines camera trajectories and map quality. The system supports RGB inputs, enabling accurate tracking and photorealistic reconstruction.

Analysis of Single-Camera and Multi-Camera System

This experiment on the Waymo Open Dataset (Real World) demonstrates the effectiveness of our Multi-Camera Gaussian Splatting SLAM system. We evaluate the 3D mapping performance using three individual cameras, Front, Front-Left, and Front-Right, and compare these single-camera reconstructions against the Multi-Camera SLAM results.

The comparison highlights that the Multi-Camera SLAM leverages complementary viewpoints, providing more complete and geometrically consistent 3D reconstructions. In contrast, single-camera setups are prone to occlusions and limited fields of view, resulting in incomplete or distorted geometry. Our approach effectively fuses information from all three perspectives, achieving superior scene coverage and depth accuracy.

. To the rest of the world, it was just a graded reader, a simplified stepping stone for English learners. To Elias, sitting in a rain-slicked doorway in a city that didn't speak his mother tongue, it was a skeleton key.

He tapped the file. The screen flickered, struggling with the low battery, before rendering the iconic red and black border of the Oxford Dominoes series.

The "Dominoes" format was unique—halfway between a comic book and a novel. As Elias scrolled, the vivid illustrations caught the blue light of the tablet. There was the silhouette of 221B Baker Street, rendered in sharp, modern lines. Unlike the dense, impenetrable thickets of classic literature, these words were spaced out, inviting him in rather than pushing him away. He began to read. “The room was dark. Dr. Watson looked at the window.”

Elias whispered the words aloud. His accent was thick, tripping over the "th" sounds, but the PDF offered a strange comfort. On the margins of the digital pages, there were "Quick Check" boxes. Who is the man in the hat? a) A friend b) An enemy

Elias smiled. He knew the answer. For a moment, the cold wind of the alleyway faded, replaced by the fog of Victorian London. The PDF wasn't just text; it was an interactive bridge. He scrolled past the story to the grammar activities at the end, testing himself on the past simple tense. Each correct mental answer felt like a small victory, a brick laid in the foundation of his new life. Suddenly, the screen went black. Battery exhausted.

Elias reflected on the dark glass. He didn't have the physical book, with its glossy cover and the smell of fresh ink. He had a pirated or perhaps gifted digital copy, a flickering ghost of a story. But as he stood up and pulled his coat tighter, the vocabulary stayed with him.

He walked toward the bus station, and for the first time, he didn't just look at the signs—he read them. The "Dominoes" had started to fall, each one knocking down a barrier of language, until the path ahead finally looked clear. 📚 Why Oxford Dominoes PDFs are Popular Visual Support : Full-color illustrations on every page help with context.
