5. Maintenance & Lifecycle Considerations
- Control Lifecycle: The FANUC 160i series is a legacy system (preceding the modern 30i/31i series). While robust, repairs require technicians familiar with Fanuc "i-series" architecture. CRT/LCD replacements are common maintenance items on units of this vintage.
- Mechanical Wear: With a +4K (dual turret) setup, ball screw wear and turret alignment are critical. Regular alignment checks of the X2/Z2 axes relative to the spindle centerline are recommended.
- Software: Supports standard G-code programming and often supports Nakamura-Tome’s proprietary "NT Navigator" conversational programming for quicker setup of simple parts.
