Nokia TA-1452 Test Point: Guide to EDL Mode (Emergency Download)
The Nokia TA-1452 (commonly known as the Nokia 110 4G (2023) or similar entry-level models) is a MediaTek (MTK) based device. In scenarios where the phone is bricked, hangs on the logo, or requires a firmware flash but the standard "Volume Down" method fails, you must use the Test Point method to put the device into EDL (Emergency Download) Mode or BROM Mode.
This guide explains what the Test Point is and how to locate it. Nokia Ta-1452 Test Point UPD
Why I won't write a “solid feature” as a single-step guide:
Because publishing only text for test points without the exact board picture and revision is risky — you might short the wrong contact and kill the device. Nokia TA-1452 Test Point: Guide to EDL Mode
If you need the precise test point for Nokia TA-1452: Search by PCB number (not just model #)
- Search by PCB number (not just model #). Open the phone and check the board marking (e.g.,
SC7731E,TA-1452 REV 1.2), then look for matching diagrams on GSM forums (GSMHero, Easy-Firmware, etc.). - Use trusted tools — e.g., CM2 (Crack Method 2) for MTK which sometimes eliminates the need for a test point.
Risks and Warnings (Read This Before Attempting)
The "UPD" in our keyword stands for Update, but it could also stand for Unexpected Permanent Damage if you are careless.
- Warranty Void: Physically opening the phone and shorting the motherboard instantly voids any remaining manufacturer warranty.
- EMI Damage: Shorting the wrong pins (e.g., feeding voltage into a data line) can fry the CPU. Double check your TP location with a multimeter (voltage to ground should be 0V in idle).
- Wrong Firmware: Flashing a TA-1452 with TA-1457 firmware will corrupt the NAND bootloader. You will need a full "Format All + Download" which wipes your IMEI (requires professional repair box to restore).
- Driver Issues: On Windows 10/11, driver signature enforcement will block SPD drivers. You must boot the PC into "Disable Driver Signature Enforcement" (Shift + Restart -> Troubleshoot -> Advanced -> Startup Settings).
2. Locating the Test Point
On the Nokia TA-1452, the test point is usually located near the Micro-USB/Charging port connector or under a metal shielding can on the logic board.
- Look for a tiny gold or copper pad that stands alone (not connected to visible circuit lines on the surface).
- It is often labeled on the board or indicated by a small arrow in repair diagrams.
- Visual Clue: For this specific model, the test point is typically found near the USB connector flex. You may need to remove the metal shield covering the processor area if it is not visible on the surface.
Step 5: Short the Test Point
- Connect the USB cable to your PC (but NOT to the phone yet).
- Hold your fine-point tweezers firmly touching both test point pads simultaneously.
- While holding the short, plug the USB cable into the phone’s charging port.
- Count 3 seconds – then release the tweezers.
What you should see: Your PC makes the "USB Connect" sound. The Device Manager will flicker and show "MediaTek USB Port (COMxx)" under Ports. The SP Flash Tool will turn from grey to yellow/blue, indicating a handshake.
