The 1988 Quirks
Unlike modern almanacs, the 1988 edition will have:
- No mention of GPS or GLONASS.
- Paper quality warnings: The original physical editions used acidic paper that is now brittle. A PDF scan might show faded ink, especially for the star charts.
- Pen corrections: If you find a scan of a used almanac, previous owners may have handwritten "Rate of chronometer: +2.3s/day" inside the front cover. Treasure these marginalia—they are history.
