Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) / Safety Data Sheet (SDS)
Product Name: NALCO 3272 Product Use: Corrosion Inhibitor / Microbiocide (Refer to product label for specific application) nalco 3272 msds install
Step-by-Step Installation Best Practices
Step 1: Pre-Installation Review
- Have the current SDS printed at the job site.
- Ensure an eyewash station and safety shower are within 10 seconds of the installation area.
- Verify containment secondary (bund) is clean and leak-tight.
Step 2: Storage & Handling (Sections 7 & 10) Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) / Safety Data
- Material compatibility: Use 316 stainless steel, HDPE, PTFE, or PVC. Avoid carbon steel, aluminum, brass, or zinc – Nalco 3272 is corrosive to these metals.
- Temperature: Store between 40°F and 100°F (4°C – 38°C). Do not freeze. If frozen, thaw slowly and mix thoroughly.
- Ventilation: Install storage in a well-ventilated area to prevent buildup of vapors or mists.
Step 3: Pump & Line Installation
- Use chemical injection quills (check valves) to prevent backflow.
- Flush all lines with water before connecting chemical.
- Label all lines: "Nalco 3272 – Corrosive Coagulant"
Step 4: First Chemical Transfer (The Most Dangerous Step) Have the current SDS printed at the job site
- Double-check all connections (no drips).
- Don full PPE (goggles, face shield, gloves, apron).
- Use a drum pump or air diaphragm pump – never pressurize a drum to empty it.
- Start with a slow recirculation to purge air from the system.
Step 2: Install the Chemical Injection Quill
- Drill and tap a hole in the pipe (or use a weld-o-let fitting).
- Install a full-port isolation ball valve (PVC or SS316) between the pipe and the quill – this allows safe removal of the injection check valve without system shutdown.
- Thread the quill into the ball valve. Ensure the quill tip extends to the center of the pipe for proper dispersion.
- Seal with PTFE tape (never pipe dope that may degrade with acid).
