This device occupies a unique place in Samsung's history. Released in 2017, it was one of the last Samsung mid-rangers to ship with an Exynos 7870 octa-core processor and, crucially, a removable battery. However, it was also the guinea pig for Samsung’s new security architecture, making it a tricky device for modders.

Chapter 4 — first boot into TWRP and backups
- Boot into TWRP recovery (Volume Up + Home + Power typically).
- In TWRP: make a full nandroid backup (Boot, System, Data, EFS). Copy the backup off-device to PC.
- Wipe: Advanced Wipe → Dalvik/ART Cache, Cache, System, Data (unless ROM instructs otherwise). Keep Internal Storage if you’ll sideload files from it.

5. Known Issues (Common across ROMs)
- VoLTE – May not work on some ROMs (carrier-dependent).
- Samsung Camera HAL – Quality reduced compared to stock (use GCam mods).
