How To Unblock Users On Youtube Site

To unblock users on YouTube, you can manage your "Hidden Users" list via YouTube Studio or use your global Google Account blocklist. Method 1: Using YouTube Studio (Desktop)

This method is best if you have hidden a user from commenting or participating in your channel's community. Sign in to YouTube Studio. Click Settings (gear icon) in the bottom-left corner.

Select Community from the left-hand menu, then go to the Automated Filters tab. Scroll down to the Hidden users section.

Find the user you want to unblock and click the X next to their name. Click Save at the bottom of the window. Method 2: Using Your Google Account (Mobile & Desktop)

Since YouTube is a Google service, users you have "blocked" (preventing them from interacting with you across Google services) are stored in your central blocklist. Quick Link: Go directly to your Google Blocklist. Android/iOS App:

Open your device's Settings app and tap Google > Manage your Google Account. Select the People & sharing tab at the top. Under the "Contacts" section, tap Blocked.

Tap the X or Remove icon next to the person's name to unblock them. Method 3: Unblocking via the User's Channel Page

Search for the user's channel or click their profile picture from a past interaction. Go to the About tab on their channel page.

Click the Report flag icon (or the three-dot menu on mobile). Select Unblock user.

Additional Information

  • Blocking vs. Hiding: Note that YouTube's blocking feature is mutual. When you block someone, they can't see your videos, and you can't see theirs. If you're looking to simply avoid seeing someone's comments or interactions without completely blocking them, consider using YouTube's comment filtering features. how to unblock users on youtube

  • Report and Blocking: If someone is spamming or harassing you, you can report them to YouTube. This can lead to their account being suspended or terminated if they violate YouTube's community guidelines.

  • Device-Specific Blocks: Keep in mind that if you're using a browser or a device where you're logged into multiple YouTube accounts, unblocking a user will affect the account you're currently logged into.

What Happens After You Unblock Someone?

It is important to manage expectations after unblocking a user:

  • Comments are restored: You will once again be able to see their comments on public videos, and they can comment on your videos (unless you have restricted them otherwise).
  • No Retroactive Subscriptions: Unblocking does not automatically re-subscribe you to their channel. If you want to follow them again, you must hit the Subscribe button manually.
  • They won't be notified: YouTube does not send a notification to the user telling them they have been unblocked. It is a silent process.
  • Subscribers count: If the person was subscribed to you before you blocked them, blocking them forces them to unsubscribe. Unblocking them does not force them to re-subscribe; they would have to manually subscribe to you again.

1. The Desktop Experience

Rating: 7/10

On a desktop browser, the process is logical but requires deep navigation.

  • The Process: You must navigate to the user's channel page > click the "About" tab > and find the flag icon (or the "Blocked" checkbox).
  • The Friction: The "About" tab is often overlooked, and the flag icon is small. While the layout is clean, the option to unblock is tucked away in a submenu, making it unintuitive for casual users.
  • The Quirk: Once unblocked, the button often changes to a "Subscribe" button almost aggressively, which is a minor but amusing UX nudge.

    • Select "Settings" from the dropdown menu.
  3. Navigate to the Privacy Section:

  4. Blocked Users Section:

    • Scroll down to the "Blocked users" section.
  5. Unblock a User:

    • Find the username of the person you want to unblock.
    • Click on "Unblock" next to their username.
  6. Confirmation:

    • You might be asked to confirm that you indeed want to unblock the user. Follow the on-screen instructions to finalize.

Method 1: How to Unblock on YouTube Desktop (Web Browser)

This is the most reliable method because the desktop interface shows you the full list of blocked users clearly.

Step 1: Open your preferred web browser and go to YouTube.com. Make sure you are logged into the account that did the blocking.

Step 2: Click on your Profile picture in the top-right corner of the screen.

Step 3: In the dropdown menu, click on Settings.

Step 4: On the left-hand sidebar, locate and click on Advanced settings (Note: You might need to scroll down. In some layouts, this is directly under "Your channel").

Step 5: Under the "Advanced settings" section, find Community and click on Blocked users.

Step 6: You will now see a list of every channel you have ever blocked.

  • Next to each username, there is a blue button that says Unblock.
  • Click Unblock next to the person you wish to restore communication with.

Step 7: A pop-up window will ask, "Unblock user? They will be able to comment on your videos." Click Unblock again to confirm.

That’s it. The user is now unblocked and can see your videos and comments again. To unblock users on YouTube, you can manage

Method 2: How to Unblock via the YouTube Mobile App (iPhone & Android)

The YouTube mobile app has a slightly different layout. While you can block someone easily via a comment, unblocking is buried one layer deeper.

Step 1: Open the YouTube App on your iPhone or Android device.

Step 2: Tap your Profile picture (bottom right corner on iPhone; top right on Android, depending on the update).

Step 3: Tap Settings.

Step 4: Tap Community (On Android, you may need to tap "Your data in YouTube" > "YouTube Community settings" first. However, in the most recent unified update, direct "Community" access is common. If you don't see it, go to "Advanced settings").

Step 5: Tap Blocked users.

Step 6: You will see the list of blocked channels. Find the user you want to unblock and tap the Unblock button next to their name.

Step 7: Confirm the action when the pop-up appears.

Pro Tip for Mobile: If you cannot find the "Blocked users" list via Settings, you can also unblock them by finding an old comment. Go to a video where they previously commented (or your comment history), tap their name to go to their channel, tap the three dots (⋮) in the top right, and if they are blocked, the option will say Unblock.
