Review: GoldCut JK Series Drivers on Windows 7

Verdict: Functional but Old School. If you are running Windows 7 with a GoldCut JK Series cutter, you are in a "sweet spot" of compatibility. While these machines struggle significantly on Windows 10/11 due to driver signing issues, Windows 7 handles them gracefully. However, the software is dated, and the setup process is not plug-and-play.

Here is a breakdown of the driver performance, installation, and reliability.

Method A – Using Goldcut’s Installer (if available)

  1. Connect the JKSeries cutter via USB (do not power on yet).
  2. Run the driver installer (.exe or .msi).
  3. Follow prompts; select your model (e.g., JK-720).
  4. When asked, power on the cutter.
  5. Wait for “Device ready” message.
  6. Restart PC.

Step 1 – Identify Bridge Chip

  1. Connect JK Series to PC via USB (plotter powered ON).
  2. Open Device ManagerOther devices (or Ports).
  3. Look for: USB Serial Converter, CH340, Prolific USB-to-Serial, or unknown device.

For FlexiSIGN / FlexiPRINT

  1. Go to Production ManagerSetup Plotter.
  2. Add a new cutter → Choose "Generic HPGL".
  3. Port: COMx (the virtual port).
  4. Speed: 9600.
  5. Uncheck "Software Handshaking" and enable "Hardware Handshaking" only if you have a true DB9 cable.
