Avant de chercher le PDF, il est essentiel de comprendre l’homme derrière l’œuvre. Pierre Vernimmen (1945-1996) était un banquier d’affaires français légendaire. Associé chez Paribas (aujourd’hui BNP Paribas), il a révolutionné l’enseignement de la finance.

Son génie fut de sortir la finance des équations complexes pour la remettre dans le contexte de la stratégie d’entreprise. Contrairement à ses prédécesseurs, Vernimmen ne voyait pas la finance comme une fin en soi, mais comme un levier de croissance pour l’industrie.

Sa mort prématurée en 1996 n’a pas interrompu l’œuvre. Ses disciples, Pascal Quiry, Yann Le Fur, et Maurizio Nivoli, ont repris le flambeau, mettant à jour l’ouvrage tous les 18 mois pour coller aux réalités des marchés (crise des subprimes, COVID, inflation, taux d’intérêt négatifs, etc.).
