Three weeks earlier, ESET’s Advanced Threat Defense team had intercepted a new fileless malware strain targeting financial institutions in the EU. The dev team worked in isolation, signing daily builds. The build from January 18 (180118) failed quality control – false positives on a legitimate accounting suite used by the German tax office.
