Level 3: Escape from the Browser
Darwin swung his fin and smashed the "SKIP AD" button.
WHOOSH.
They were suddenly teleported right in front of the massive Firewall. The Glitch monster roared behind them, its pixels clumping together to form a giant fist.
"How do we get past the firewall?" Darwin panicked. "It's asking for a password!"
The wall displayed a holographic keyboard.
PASSWORD PROMPT: WHAT IS THE SQUARE ROOT OF... (LOADING)...
"It's a math question!" Darwin gasped. "We're doomed! We don't know math!"
"We don't need math!" Gumball grinned. "We need Elmore logic."
Gumball looked at the digital ground and picked up a floating file labeled "physics_engine.dll". He hurled it at the keyboard.
"Access denied," the computer droned.
"Okay, plan B!" Gumball shouted. He reached into his digital pocket and pulled out a bag of virtualized "Daisy Flakes." He poured them into the input slot of the firewall.
“SYSTEM ERROR: UNSUPPORTED FILE FORMAT: PURE SUGAR.”
Sparks flew from the wall. The keyboard began to glitch out.
“ERROR... ERROR... OVERLOAD... REBOOTING...”
The firewall flickered and vanished for a split second.
"NOW! JUMP!"
Gumball and Darwin leaped through the gap in the code just as The Glitch monster swiped at them, missing by inches.
Epilogue: The Blue Screen
THUMP.
Gumball and Darwin landed hard on the carpet of their bedroom floor.
"Ow..." Gumball groaned. He looked at the computer screen. It was glowing a calm, bright blue.
The Blue Screen of Death.
"Did... did we win?" Darwin asked, dusting himself off.
The computer whirred, and the blue screen faded back to the desktop. The browser window was gone.
"I think so," Gumball said, breathing a sigh of relief. "We saved the universe from total digital collapse."
Suddenly, the door burst open. Nicole Watterson stood there, looking furious.
"Gumball! Why is the internet bill $500 higher than usual?" she demanded, holding a tablet.
"Uh... inflation?" Gumball offered.
"And WHY," Nicole continued, pointing a clawed finger at the hallway, "is your father stuck in the ceiling fan, spinning around and singing the Russian national anthem?"
Gumball looked at Darwin. Darwin looked at Gumball.
"I guess the download finished early," Gumball whispered.
They both bolted out the window, leaving the computer screen flickering one last time. A single text box popped up on the desktop, unnoticed by anyone:
“Update Complete. Rebooting World in 3... 2... 1...”
