Dark Side Fantasy Ep 2 - Pasture Soft

Dark Side Fantasy Ep 2: Pasture Soft

In the eerie and mystical realm of Tenebrous, where the sun dips into the horizon and paints the sky with hues of crimson and gold, the village of Brindlemark lay nestled within a valley. It was a place of ancient lore, where the air was sweet with the scent of blooming wildflowers and the soil was fertile, making the pasturelands exceptionally soft and green.

The Journey

Under the guidance of Thorne, the village elder, Eira sets out to uncover the source of the troubles. Their journey takes them across the "pasture soft," a seemingly innocent landscape that hides secrets and dangers. As night falls, and the moon climbs high, Eira and Thorne come upon a clearing where the grass is not just soft but seems to move of its own accord.

It is here that they discover the source of their troubles: a cursed entity, born from the darkness and feeding on the fear and suffering of the village's animals. The entity, known as a Moongazer, was an ancient being with the power to manipulate reality within the confines of the moon's glow. dark side fantasy ep 2 pasture soft

How to Listen to "Pasture Soft" Correctly

You cannot listen to this EP on laptop speakers. You will miss the point.

To experience the true "dark side fantasy," the artist recommends a specific listening ritual: Dark Side Fantasy Ep 2: Pasture Soft In

  1. Headphones only. Open-back headphones preferred.
  2. Listen at twilight (civil dusk, specifically).
  3. Place a physical texture nearby. A wool blanket. A piece of raw wood. A glass of milk. The haptic feedback matters.
  4. Do not skip. The transitions between tracks are where the "soft" decay lives.

The Tale

As episode 2, "Pasture Soft," unfolds, we find our protagonist, Eira Shadowglow, a skilled huntress with unparalleled accuracy and a mysterious past, wandering into the village. Eira had been traveling through the dense forests that bordered the village, searching for a mythical beast known as the Shadow Stag. The creature was said to roam the darkest depths of the forest, its antlers reaching high into the treeline, and its coat as black as the night sky.

The villagers, wary at first, soon grow fond of Eira's charming demeanor and her exceptional skill in hunting. They request her help in dealing with a strange occurrence: their livestock had begun to fall ill under the light of the full moon, and some had even gone missing. Eira, sensing a darkness at play, agrees to help. Headphones only

1. "Haybale Horizon (Slowed + Reverbed)"

The opener does not immediately signal darkness. It begins with a 45-second field sample: actual wind, a distant horse, the rustle of tall fescue grass. Then, a piano chord hits. It is detuned by exactly 15 cents, creating that signature "worn out" feeling. The bass enters not as a note, but as a pressure. The artist uses a technique called "sub-bass muting," where the low end feels like it is pressing against velvet.

The "Slowed + Reverbed" tag is critical. Unlike the TikTok trend of simply slowing down pop songs, this is original composition played at 65 BPM. The reverb is not a cave-sized echo; it is a "pasture soft" reverb—short decay, high diffusion. It sounds like sound bouncing off wet grass.
