Missing or Broken Features
- No bi-directional status: Cannot query paper low, overheat, or cover open via standard API.
- No SNMP support for network models.
- No PDF direct printing.
- No native OPOS driver – problematic for POS software expecting Epson/Star.
3. Key Features & Settings
After installation, open Printer Properties > Preferences. Here is what you can control:
- Paper Size: 58mm, 80mm (default), or 76mm. Note: The CH-E80 hardware is 80mm, but the driver can scale down.
- Print Density: 1 (light) to 5 (dark). Default is 3. Tip: Set to 4 for thermal paper that has faded over time.
- Sleep Timer: Default is 15 minutes. You can disable this via the driver utility (useful for kitchens).
- Cash Drawer Kick: You can map the "Document Print End" event to fire pin 2 or pin 5 on the RJ11 port.
Missing Feature: No bidirectional status monitoring. If the printer runs out of paper, Windows will still show "Ready" until you try to print.
Method 2: Manual Installation via Windows Print Server
If the installer fails or you are using a network-shared Ch-e80:
- Open Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
- Click “Add a printer” > “The printer that I want isn’t listed.”
- Select “Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings.”
- Choose “Use an existing port” (USB001 for USB; Standard TCP/IP for Ethernet).
- Click “Have Disk” → “Browse” → navigate to your extracted driver folder and select the
.inf file.
- Complete the wizard.
