Artlantis Plugin for SketchUp: Bridging Modeling and Rendering

For architects and designers who use Trimble SketchUp as their primary modeling tool, transforming a schematic 3D model into a polished, photorealistic rendering has traditionally required either complex in-program rendering engines or laborious file exports. The Artlantis plugin for SketchUp (often called the Artlantis Exporter or SketchUp connection) solves this by creating a seamless bridge between SketchUp and Artlantis, a standalone, GPU-accelerated rendering application developed by Abvent.

What It Is

The Artlantis Export Plug-in for SketchUp allows you to directly transfer your SketchUp model (geometry, textures, layers, and camera views) into Artlantis (a standalone 3D rendering application) without needing to export/import via intermediate file formats like OBJ or 3DS. artlantis plugin sketchup

Step 1: Download the Exporter

You cannot download the plugin inside SketchUp's Extension Warehouse. You must go to the official Abvent/Hunter website or your Artlantis installation disk. Speed: Export is nearly instantaneous

Why Use the Artlantis Plugin Instead of Direct Export?

SketchUp can export to COLLADA (DAE), which Artlantis can import. However, the plugin offers critical advantages:

Speed: Export is nearly instantaneous, even for large models (hundreds of MB).
Fidelity: No triangulation artifacts or texture path breakage.
Layer Management: SketchUp tags (formerly layers) become Artlantis layers, enabling you to hide or isolate objects during rendering.
Animation Ready: You can export multiple scenes from SketchUp as a camera path for Artlantis’s animation engine.
