Arminius Revolver Manual Of Arms -
The Arminius Revolver: A Comprehensive Manual of Arms for the German Sidearm
5. Maintenance and Handling Notes
- Timing: Older Arminius revolvers may suffer from timing issues (cylinder rotation). Before firing, manually cock the hammer and check that the cylinder locks tightly. If the cylinder is misaligned with the forcing cone, do not fire.
- Caliber Warning: Arminius revolvers vary wildly in caliber. Some are .22LR, others are .38 Special. Always check the barrel stamp. Do not fire .357 Magnum ammunition in a revolver marked only ".38 Special."
- Cylinder Latch Care: The swing-out mechanism on older German imports can loosen over time. Ensure the crane screw is tight and the cylinder does not wobble excessively when closed.
5. Carry Conditions (Hammer Positions)
- Condition 3 (Safest for old Arminius): Hammer down on empty chamber (load 5 rounds only).
- Condition 2 (Unsafe for most Arminius): Hammer down on live round – risk of discharge if struck.
- Condition 1 (Not possible on DA revolver): “Cocked and locked” does not apply.
